Relieving Poverty and Disadvantage

Helping young people affected by poverty and other issues
Wester Hailes Youth Agency strives to promote, establish, and operate sustainable services and facilities, which integrate environmental, social and economic factors for the benefit of young people aged 8-25, within Wester Hailes and the surrounding communities of Broomhouse, Sighthill, Parkhead and Longstone.
The Leus Family Foundation made a charitable donation to the Youth Agency. Dmitry Leus, the founder of the Leus Family Foundation said: “The Youth Agency’s programmes with disadvantaged children and young people are crucial – and even more with the pandemic putting even greater pressure on the most vulnerable. We are pleased to support the work they do and hope to help with any specific projects that might need support going into 2022.”
Francine Love, a Senior Youth Worker at the Youth Agency, thanked Dmitry Leus for the donation.
“Thank you very much indeed for your donation. We are really delighted and it will make such a difference to our work with young people. As you probably know many of the young people that we work with are affected by poverty and other issues such as chaotic home lives, poor mental health and low attainment in school. Donations such as yours allow us to continue to work with these young people to improve their choices and outcomes.”
The Youth Agency’s work is informed by a set of beliefs that include a commitment to equal opportunities, and to young people as partners in learning and decision making. They believe that the needs, abilities, and aspirations of young people should be recognised, understood, and met within a supportive environment, which encourages them to achieve their goals and make real measurable progress.
Donations can be made via their website, The Youth Agency.
